The Future of Development Cooperation Coalition is pleased to welcome Norway as its 20th supporting country.
Norway joins Barbados, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ghana, Ireland, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Senegal, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Zambia.
Together, these countries bring perspectives from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, as well as varied experiences and models of engaging in development cooperation across finance, technical assistance, knowledge and technology. We are also pleased that JICA has joined as an observer institution.
“We are delighted to welcome Norway and to reach our original goal of 20 supporting countries,” said Alexia Latortue, Head of the Coalition Secretariat. “This is a remarkably diverse group. Their engagement helps us test our thinking against different national experiences and strengthens the prospects that the Coalition’s work can inform real policy and practice.”
Supporting countries follow the Coalition’s work, engage with its emerging ideas, and will consider what implementing the forthcoming Principles and Recommendations could mean in their own contexts. Their different experiences provide an important test of whether the Coalition’s proposals are relevant across political, economic, and institutional settings.
The Coalition’s Co-Chairs and Commissioners are finalizing the Purposes and Principles of Effective Development Cooperation and beginning to develop the Recommendations, drawing on the Coalition’s research, country and thematic consultations, and engagement with supporting countries and many, many other strong partners.
The Coalition’s 20 supporting countries are:
Barbados, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ghana, Ireland, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Senegal, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom and Zambia.
